One of the popular tag teams in the Ruthless Aggression Era is the World’s Greatest Tag Team. The team comprised Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas. The duo were mentored by Kurt Angle as well. The team managed to capture gold on a few occasions as well.

While speaking on Stories With Brisco And Bradshaw, The Gold Standard mentioned that he became a much better wrestler thanks to Charlie Haas.

“Hey, so… On the subject of Charlie, and I’ve said this many times. I am a much better wrestler because of Charlie. And I say that because I… Athletically I had a lot of gifts… The problem is, when you have a lot of gifts, natural gifts, and you’re somewhat successful, you tend to get lazy. Because things are so easy for me, things get lazy, well things didn’t come as easy athletically for Charlie.

“He had to work his ass off for every bit of success that he had. And as his partner, because of his work ethic, I had to raise mine. Not that I was lazy, but again, things just seemed easy to me. So a big part in why we gelled so well together is because we would get in the ring all the time and get put through the paces. Get training from you guys. If you remember, Arn Anderson would put us through a whole routine before shows with using the extras and things like that.”

Shelton Benjamin had to work harder because of Charlie Haas’ work ethic

“But a lot of that was because of Charlie. Charlie wanted to do all that stuff I didn’t even.. It didn’t even cross my mind. But it was one of those things, ‘My teammate’s doing that. My teammate’s putting in this work.’ So I got to put it in too. Because that’s my teammate. And you’re only as strong as your weakest link and I’m not going to be a weak link. And I don’t think we had one. So because I had to keep up with his work ethic, it made me a better wrestler,” Shelton Benjamin said.
