Christian Cage will challenge for the gold at AEW Double or Nothing.

AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland came to the ring on the May 1 episode of AEW Dynamite. He recapped his first week as the AEW World Champion and targeted the Young Bucks by calling them selfish and power-hungry after they attacked Tony Khan. He then called out his challenger at AEW Double or Nothing. The Young Bucks appeared on the video screen and took issue with Strickland cursing them out on AEW Collision.

The Bucks then said that they would set Strickland up with an elite Canadian wrestler. Christian Cage and The Patriarchy then came out and confronted Strickland. Cage hit the champion with a cheap shot.

They brawled, and Killswitch overpowered Swerve. Strickland hit Cage with the Killswitch onto the title. Nick Wayne then dropped Prince Nana with the Wayne’s World.

Cage then said that he never forgets, and he hadn’t forgotten that Swerve broke into Nick Waynes’s gym and attacked him months ago. He also recalled how Strickland lost when they teamed up at AEW All In. The former TNT Champion said he was was waiting for the right moment to get payback. He vowed to embarrass Strickland and make him a footnote in the history of AEW. Christian said he would take the title, and the pain had just begun

Killswitch then ripped some of Strickland’s hair out, and Cage raised it high.
