For The Undertaker, being part of the main event in WrestleMania 40 finally provided closure to his in-ring career.

During WrestleMania 40 Night Two, Cody Rhodes finally took Roman Reigns’ gold. It saw plenty of outside interference, including The Bloodline, John Cena and The Undertaker. In the end, The Undertaker took out The Rock, allowing Cody to defeat Reigns. The entire event was pushed as a new era for WWE, with Triple H taking over the roles of Vince McMahon.

For years, The Undertaker has debated returning inside the ring. He won the Boneyard Match at WrestleMania 36 against AJ Styles. We later learned that cinematic match was his farewell. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and does make a few outside appearances. Unlike in the past, he has begun dropping the various elements of his gimmick. On his Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker said WrestleMania 40 provided closure.

He Missed The Live Crowd

“I’ve been struggling with it since I retired, but this weekend gave me closure,” said The Undertaker. “But, when it was over and I’m running out of the building, I felt like, ‘I’m good now.’ It’s been difficult the last couple of years, especially at Mania or even at a regular premium live event. I would leave before the matches because I would get to the point where I felt like I needed to be out there. But being out there this weekend, and to have such a great storyline with someone like The Rock on that stage at WrestleMania, in front of a live crowd like the one in Philadelphia—it was an incredible experience.”

It did seem like The Undertaker was out of place in the spot. Everyone else had history with The Bloodline. Of course, we learned Steve Austin was supposed to fulfill that moment. There is no reason why WWE and Austin could not come to an agreement. Still, The Undertaker got another chance in-front of a live crowd. So, will The Undertaker get the itch to compete again or did he find closure with WrestleMania 40?
