Pump the brakes on any speculation that Jon Moxley was planned for WWE WrestleMania 40.

In the main event of WrestleMania 40 Night Two, Cody Rhodes challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. John Cena, The Undertaker, and The Rock all got involved in the match, in addition to the typical Bloodline interference.

Late in the bout, The Shield’s theme music played, leading some fans to think that Jon Moxley, the former Dean Ambrose, was about to make a run-in. Instead, Seth Rollins, dressed in his Shield gear, tried to interfere, but Roman Reigns took him out.

Per Liam Crowley of ComicBook.com, AEW President Tony Khan confirmed that WWE did not reach out about possibly using Jon Moxley for WrestleMania 40. Whether there were any ideas of doing so on the WWE side is unclear. However, at least from AEW’s perspective, they were never asked.
