WWE could be bringing in a star from New Japan Pro Wrestling in the near future if talks about potential interest in this person continue. WWE has had success with stars from Japan, such as Tajiri Shinsuke Nakamura, Asuka, IYO SKY, Kairi Sane, and others.

However, there have been some misses as well, including KENTA due to injury and booking. WWE is reportedly interested in bringing in NJPW/STARDOM wrestler Giulia. They’re also interested in another star.

Kazuchika Okada

Kazuchika Okada is on the radar of some in WWE. Fans in the United States have been aware of his work in NJPW for years, but the introduction of him to the AEW fanbase has expanded that awareness.

Okada is slated to have a rematch with Bryan Danielson at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom in January. Their first match was at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view this past June, where Danielson went over with a broken arm.

The interest

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that they heard some talk of late regarding Kazuchika Okada.

Meltzer wrote, “The pitch is that he’s now 36 and he’s close with Nakamura and Nakamura has worked years in WWE, and it’s far easier on his body.”

The idea is the company is the one thing that he has never done after doing everything in NJPW.

The report continued, “One person who buzzed us about the renewed interest in Okada said that one of the reasons Nakamura is getting a renewed push is to show Okada that this regime is not going to treat Japanese like the stereotypical children-like role (although Tozawa is still playing that role) because Vince does that with people who don’t speak fluent English, but this is a new regime.”

Although there's been some interest in him in the past, there’s been more talk of late.
