A new report states that WWE wants Steve Austin to be involved with WrestleMania weekend.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that, per WWE sources, the company “made an overture” for “Stone Cold” Steve Austin to be involved. Per Johnson, there was no word on the specific role. However, there were at least some discussions.

Johnson also writes that there has been talk that WWE has been working on having Hulk Hogan involved at WrestleMania 40 weekend. Johnson did not specify whether Austin or Hogan would be involved at WrestleMania itself.

Over the past few days, fans have been buzzing about a potential appearance by Steve Austin. Austin’s face could be seen on a production truck in the background at the end of the show. This sparked some excitement as it came when The Rock attacked Cody Rhodes and made him bleed.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer previously reported that WWE was planning on using Austin, The Undertaker, and John Cena at WrestleMania 40.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
