Wes Lee expresses his gratitude for two WWE Performance Center coaches.

Wes Lee was in a tag team alongside Nash Carter (Zachary Wentz) upon signing with WWE in 2021. Collectively known as MSK, they were two-time NXT Tag Team Champions.

Lee recently spoke with Phil Strum of Under The Ring. Lee named Terry Taylor and Steve Corino as two coaches who helped him work through the sudden split from Nash Carter (Zachary Wentz), his long-time tag team partner.

Carter was released by WWE at the start of MSK’s second reign. This effectively turned Lee into a singles competitor. Lee went on to become the longest-reigning NXT North American Champion.

“Yes, Coach Terry Taylor and Coach Steve Corino. They have been major crutches for me,” Lee said. “When the separation of MSK happened, I was inside of Coach Terry Taylor’s class. He made sure that I knew it was going to be okay. Even though you have this major obstacle in front of you, it’s not something that should deter you. He pushed me. He made sure that I knew that I had the capabilities within my body to be able to produce what I wanted to that was in my head.”

“As I transitioned from his class over to Coach Corino’s class, that’s when my mind was really able to be expanded upon,” Lee continued. “The environment and atmosphere that Coach Corino created allows for your creativity to truly flourish and shine. And also, [it’s] just an atmosphere that you feel comfortable to be able to talk. [You] understand the value of vocalizing how you feel on the inside.”

Reaching Out For Help

Wes Lee hopes others know they can reach out to somebody to talk about their feelings to prevent falling into a dark place.

“As most men, we don’t necessarily deal with our emotions the best. But having somebody there that you can vent to and express how you are feeling definitely helps,” Lee explained. “I hope more men are able to understand that you should reach out to somebody and be able to speak about how you are feeling so that you do not venture down a very, very negative path and end up hurting yourself or other individuals. I have to greatly, greatly, greatly, deeply, like the most sincere that I possibly can, thank Coach Terry Taylor and Coach Steve Corino for breathing new life into me right when I desperately, desperately needed it.”

Wes Lee’s North American Championship reign recently ended at the hands of Dominik Mysterio. Lee’s reign ran a total of 269 days. Zachary Wentz spent some time on the independent scene after his release and recently returned to IMPACT Wrestling.
