On AEW Dynamite this week, Will Ospreay and Claudio Castagnoli squared off for the first time ever.

It ended with Ospreay picking up the victory in advance of his match against Bryan Danielson at AEW Dynasty this Sunday. While Ospreay vs. Danielson is being promoted as a dream match, facing Castagnoli was also a significant moment for Ospreay.

Ospreay wrote on social media that, for the longest time, he wondered what it would be like to compete against Castagnoli. He thanked Castagnoli for the challenge and said Castagnoli was "without any doubt" the strongest person he's ever faced:

For the longest time I’ve wondered what it would be like to challenge @ClaudioCSRO

He is without any doubt the strongest guy I’ve faced in wrestling. And it was an absolute pleasure testing myself against him before my bout with Bryan.

Thank you for the challenge & thank you Indianapolis for housing me!

Following last night's match, there was an angle where the Don Callis Family beat down Castagnoli until Jon Moxley made the save. Ospreay was not happy about his stablemates attacking Castagnoli.

Sunday's Dynasty pay-per-view is being held in St. Louis. The night before the event, Blackpool Combat Club (Danielson & Castagnoli) vs. Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita & Kyle Fletcher) in a Bunkhouse Brawl will take place on Collision.
