The first title match has been confirmed for WWE Backlash on May 4.

During the April 15 episode of WWE RAW, World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest confirmed that he would defend the title against Jey Uso at WWE Backlash. Uso earned a title shot by defeating Drew McIntyre, Ricochet, and Bronson Reed in a four-way match on the April 15 episode of WWE RAW. CM Punk interfered in the bout and cost McIntyre the match, and his involvement directly led to Uso’s victory.

Priest won the title at WWE WrestleMania 40. He cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on Drew McIntyre to capture the gold. McIntyre dethroned Seth Rollins but was attacked by CM Punk. Priest then capitalized with his cash-in, and he left with the gold.

Cody Rhodes is also set to defend his title at Backlash. His challenger will be determined on the April 19 episode of WWE SmackDown, where LA Knight will face AJ Styles.
