AEW made waves for opening their forbidden door, but they are perhaps not alone as WWE and GCW are going to be teaming up for an upcoming event.

The event in question is Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport. According to Fightful, the two promotions will be working together. Specifically, multiple WWE Superstars will be taking part in the event. No sooner had that interesting note dropped than we had the first major name confirmed for the April 4th event.

It will be the first GCW appearance for Shayna Baszler. However, she is not the only name we can expect, based on the announcement. While it is fun to imagine who might take part, there are a couple names to perhaps watch for.

WWE And GCW Teaming Up For Upcoming Event; Shayna Baszler Involved

Nothing is stopping the list of those involved from being all new to GCW, like Baszler. But WWE does have at least a couple current Superstars with prior GCW experience. AJ Styles and CM Punk come immediately to mind.

It is worth pointing out though, the timing might limit the availability of certain individuals. Bloodsport is April 4th. WrestleMania weekend begins April 5th with SmackDown and the Hall of Fame festivities. And before then, plenty of pre-WrestleMania events are slated for that week in Philadelphia.

What does help things? This event will also be in Philadelphia. That surely helped make things easier to agree to. I wouldn’t expect someone like GUNTHER, with prior Bloodsport experience, to be involved just a couple days ahead of a major WrestleMania match. However, there are plenty of opportunities to have Superstars involved, and it is exciting to consider the possibilities.

Something else of note? WWE surely is not just doing this for nothing. I have to think that perhaps someone could be appearing on some upcoming WWE event in return? Could this be the opening for Matt Cardona?
