During the WWE King and Queen of the Ring Premium Live Event (PLE), the main event of Clash at the Castle 2024 was announced. The PLE is taking place at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on Jue 15th, 2024, and is being branded as Clash at the Castle: Scotland.

The main event of the PLE will include World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest taking on Scotland’s very own Drew McIntyre. This announcement did not come as a surprise to many given the history between the two superstars, and because Scotland is McIntyre’s home country.

Read about how this match between Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest came to be, and also the chances of an interference in this main event.

WWE Survivor Series 2023

This feud between the two superstars started during the buildup to WWE Survivor Series 2023.

Because of his rivalry with Seth Rollins, Jey Uso, Cody Rhodes, and Sami Zayn, Drew McIntyre decided to pair up with Damian Priest and his faction, The Judgement Day, for the 5 vs 5 wargames match. However, McIntyre made it clear that he had no interest in joining the faction and that he was doing this for himself.

When The Judgement Day ended up losing the match, with Damian Priest taking the pin, McIntyre stormed out of the Wargames cage, looking visibly upset. This was likely because he had lost the match but didn’t have anything to do with the decision.

Wrestlemania 40: Priest Cash In

At Wrestlemania 40, the feud between Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins went to another level as the two faced off at Night 2 for Rollins’ World Heavyweight Championship. The match ended with Drew McIntyre pinning Rollins after hitting him with a final Claymore, as he became the new World Heavyweight Champion.

However, McIntyre made the biggest mistake of his WWE career after he immediately started bragging about the win to special guest commentator CM Punk. Punk ultimately had enough and attacked McIntyre on the announce table, hitting him with his arm brace.

Then, Mr. Money in The Bank Damian Priest’s music hit, and he started running down to the ring to try and cash in his contract. He threw McIntyre back into the ring and told the referee he was going to cash in the briefcase. He then hit McIntyre with the South of Heaven and pinned him to become the new World Heavyweight Champion, ending McIntyre’s reign after only 5 minutes.

This Clash at the Castle rematch was made as McIntyre looks to finally get his revenge on Damian Priest.

Will CM Punk Interfere?

Drew McIntyre and CM Punk have been feuding ever since Punk’s huge return to the WWE at Survivor Series 2023. Their rivalry continued to escalate, especially in early 2024, as McIntyre began to troll CM Punk all over social media after multiple altercations with him in the ring.

Since Punk was feeding with both Rollins and McIntyre during the Wrestlemania 40 season, he decided to become a guest commentator for the match. Little did the fans know, the WWE legend would end up costing McIntyre his big Wrestlemania moment just minutes after he won the championship.

Punk has cost McIntyre multiple matches after that Wrestlemania, despite still being on the injury list. They have had multiple segments on recent WWE Monday Night Raw shows but have always stayed far enough from each other to the point where it would be impossible for them to get physical. It’s very likely that CM Punk will once cost Drew the World Heavyweight Championship, this time in front of his home fans.
