When he eventually joins the WWE Hall of Fame, Randy Orton would like John Cena to induct him.
Orton was the guest on this week’s episode of Cody Rhodes’ “What Do You Wanna Talk About?” interview series. During their conversation, Rhodes asked Orton who he’d like to induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame.
“Gosh, I almost even don’t want to say because I feel like he’d hear this and then feel obligated, but maybe John [Cena],” Orton said. “There’s a few reasons. Selfishly, because I know that he would knock it out of the f*cking park.”
Orton said he thinks Cena could do him justice better than anyone else, but he knows how busy Cena is and doesn’t know if he could ask Cena to do the induction.
“I have a tendency to sell myself short,” Orton said. “And I feel like, maybe he would love to do it. But I don’t know that I could ask him. You know what I’m saying? And I almost don’t even want to think about it until that time comes, if it comes.”
At the end of 2025, Cena will retire from in-ring competition. He’s announced a retirement tour that will last from January through December. Cena plans on working “right around 36 dates” as part of the tour.
Orton told Rhodes that he “100 percent” wants to face Cena again before Cena retires. They were two of the top stars of WWE’s Ruthless Aggression era.
Later this month, Orton will challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at Bash in Berlin. The PLE is taking place in Germany on Saturday, August 31.
