Bianca Belair has been a notable absentee from WWE TV, with fans speculating when the former Women's Champion will be back on their screens. But they may have a while to wait despite suggestions she could be involved in the ongoing angle involving Jade Cargill on SmackDown.
Belair suffered broken fingers in a WrestleMania 41 triple-threat match against Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley in April. She hasn't competed since and has been recovering ahead of a possible return.
An update from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests that the 36-year-old isn't expected to be back anytime soon. They claim that there is "no return date for Belair."
It is added that her length of time away from the ring must mean her injury was "far worse" than usual broken fingers, as such an injury doesn't usually mean such a long lay-off. She will have been sidelined for seven months come November, and the report suggests a return is some way off.
That could open the door to a possible Royal Rumble return, given the event takes place on January 31st, around three months after Belair fully recovers. A surprise entrance could be the plan, and she'll likely have her sights set on Cargill if her former friend holds gold on the Road to WrestleMania 42.
Cargill is set to challenge Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women's Championship at Saturday Night's Main Event this Saturday (November 1st). She is favorite with the bookies to defeat Stratton and win the first singles title of her career after turning heel on SmackDown last Friday.
Belair was involved in a storyline with Cargill earlier this year after Naomi attacked the latter in a parking lot. She served as special guest referee in the duo's No Holds Barred match at Evolution in July.
Belair's relationship with fellow SmackDown star Montez Ford is no secret and the couple even starred in their own reality show Love & WWE: Bianca & Montez. But the married couple has never been a mixed tag team.
WWE's current roster is stacked with romantic partners, including CM Punk and AJ Lee, who teamed up against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch at Wrestlepalooza last month. But they might not be the only ones who use love to their advantage.
Bianca spoke about possibly joining forces with Ford ahead of that Wrestlepalooza match. She said while appearing on Club 520 Podcast:
"I would love to, you know? Having my husband [Montez Ford] and me in the ring together, we could create some magic. I do think that–he’s in a tag team right now [Street Profits], and they have a lot more they want to accomplish–eventually, when he goes solo, I would love to see him soar."
The newest on-screen couple are Aleister Black and Zelina Vega, who have partnered up on SmackDown as a 'necessary evil'. The use of another real-life relationship has fans speculating that a potential mixed tag team division could be on the cards.
She added:
"And then, maybe we come together, like what Becky [Lynch] and Seth [Rollins] are doing, what [CM] Punk and AJ [Lee] are doing. It’s super exciting, something people have not seen before. I would love to do something like that."
Belair started dating Ford in 2017, and the pair married on June 23, 2018, but their relationship hasn't been used as a storyline. If they did wish to put the duo together, there is the issue of Ford performing as part of The Street Profits, currently being managed by B-Fab, another member of the women's division.
