According to reports from PWInsider and Fightful Select, WWE is potentially planning to bring back its all-women’s pay-per-view event, Evolution, on July 12, 2025. The rumored venue is Atlanta, Georgia, and the event may coincide with a Saturday Night’s Main Event taping, creating a stacked weekend for the company.

This would mark the long-awaited return of Evolution, the first iteration of which was held in 2018 and showcased talent from across WWE’s brands — Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and the now-defunct NXT UK. There have been rumors WWE was thinking about reviving the event, and several female stars have called for it to return, but news was always limited to speculation. There were mixed reports about how successful the event was, even if it was praised for spotlighting women's wrestling.
With an extremely stacked women's roster, WWE has several reasons to try the premium live event again. And, as a real test to how much it can attract viewers, they are tentatively combining the show with Saturday Night's Main Event and putting it up against AEW’s All In Texas.
If rumors of the event are accurate, it will create a head-to-head scenario between WWE and AEW pay-per-view events, with Evolution potentially pulling fans who might otherwise tune in for AEW’s major summer show. It's a smart business move. The downside is that, if the event is meant to generally highlight women's wrestling, WWE is taking the spotlight away from AEW's female stars.
Interestingly, despite the buzz surrounding Evolution 2, several WWE talents have reportedly not been informed of any such plans. According to Fightful Select, numerous superstars said that no discussions about the event have taken place internally. The report adds that some WWE legends have discussed the possibility, though it remains unclear whether they’ve been officially informed or are simply reacting to online speculation.
Other reports are that WWE appears to be keeping a tight lid on plans, with insiders suggesting the company is intentionally limiting leaks. That secrecy might explain why WWE has yet to make any official announcement regarding Evolution’s return, and curiosity about if WWE is trying to give AEW as little a heads-up as possible.
