XFL unveils new uniforms, partnership
The third reboot of the XFL will kick off in February, but on Wednesday, the league announced a partnership with Under Armour and unveiled new uniforms for all eight teams.
XFL ownership, marketing and Under Armour collaborated on the uniform designs with "individual team identities in mind."
Jerseys also feature a personal message from "ownership to players" on the interior of each uniform's collar called a "Blood, Sweat, Respect" mantra. Often tied to one of the league's owners, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, the mantra has been used as part of his New Rock Project collection, a partnership with Under Armour's Freedom initiative, which raises resources for military, first responders and their families.
In a statement released by the XFL on Wednesday, chairwoman and owner Dany Garcia said the decade-long relationship between Johnson and Under Armour helped ease the process.
"Integrating them into the XFL as Official Uniform Partner is a natural extension of this long-standing relationship," Garcia said. "We have been closely collaborating with their exceptional talent to ensure these uniforms reflect the dynamic energy of each team and are engineered to deliver state-of-the-art athlete solutions to drive player performance while also prioritizing health and safety."
Included in the XFL's statement, Johnson said the league and Under Armour have worked for almost two years to ensure the uniforms represent the "pride and history of each city" while also being able to "withstand the physicality" of football.
The 2023 XFL season begins on Feb. 18, 2023. Thanks to a partnership agreed upon in May with Disney properties, all XFL regular-season games and playoff games will air on ESPN, ABC and FX.
