The University of Wisconsin football program is actively working to flip a 2025 recruit who’s currently committed to Minnesota.

Although Emmanuel Karmo verbally committed to the Gophers in April, the Wisconsin Badgers will get the four-star linebacker on campus for an official visit starting May 31. He will also take officials to Minnesota, Ohio State, and Nebraska before shutting things down completely.

“Below is my upcoming official visit schedule,” Karmo wrote. “Even though I’m proudly committed to the Gophers, I believe it’s important to explore all my options and ensure I’m making the best decision for my future.”

According to the composite rankings, Karmo is the No. 341 player in his class, the No. 36 LB, and the No. 1 player in Minnesota.

Wisconsin Football Seeking to Flip Emmanuel Karmo

In early April, Karmo, a four-star linebacker recruit from Robbinsdale Cooper High School in Minneapolis, dropped a top-seven list. Wisconsin football made the cut alongside schools like Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio State, USC, Oregon, and Penn State.

Even when Karmo announced that he was staying home just four days later, the Badgers coaching staff stayed in contact, and he will now have a chance to help him row his boat in the right direction.

Wisconsin football defensive coordinator Mike Tressel and outside linebackers coach Matt Mitchell have each played a role in Karmo’s recruitment thus far — because they see a lot of versatility in his game.

Although the Badgers jumped into this recruitment a little late in the game, a source has indicated to me that Wisconsin football has Karmo high on their board and sees him as a potential difference-maker.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound linebacker totaled 49 tackles, 10 for loss, two sacks, and an interception during his junior season. On tape, Karmo looks like someone who could stand up at outside linebacker and has enough athletic tools to play coverage if needed. His aggressiveness and instincts lead to a lot of disruptive plays in the backfield.

With official visit season on the horizon, Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin Badgers football team hold 11 verbal commitments in the 2025 recruiting class, which ranks 17th nationally. Given the high number of top-of-board targets scheduled to visit Madison early in June, this class could start filling up quickly.
