The Kansas City Chiefs and starting ILB Derrick Johnson have agreed to terms on a five-year contract extension worth just over $34 million with $15 million guaranteed, FOXSports.com has learned.

Johnson, who would have become an unrestricted free-agent next year, was playing on a one-year restricted free-agent tender worth $2.475 million, which he signed in March.

Johnson, 27, entered the NFL as a first-round selection (15th overall) of the Chiefs in the 2005 NFL Draft.

The University of Texas product played in 50 games (40 starts) for the Longhorns, earning the Butkus Award and the Bronko Nagurski Trophy as a senior in 2004. Johnson was a Parade All-America selection as a senior at Waco High School in Waco, Texas.
