Scouting Notebook - Big Leagues Magazine (Nathaniel Stoltz profiles some Triple-A Nashville players)
I'm not sure if anyone here has read Big Leagues Magazine - this is actually my first time! - but, my friend, Nathaniel Stoltz, went to Tennessee recently to watch the Birmingham Barons/Tennessee Smokies series (Double-A affiliates of the White Sox and Cubs organizations, respectively), and then a series involving Milwaukee's Triple-A Nashville Sounds and the Sacramento River...
Brewers Monday: Two pitchers cut from roster
The Milwaukee Brewers trimmed their spring training roster by two on Monday, optioning pitchers Tyler Thornburg and Johnny Hellweg to Triple-A Nashville.
Two of the top arms in the organization, both were considered long shots to break camp with the Brewers.
Thornburg, 24, has appeared in two spring training games and posted a 9.00 ERA in four innings of work. The right-hander...

Milwaukee Brewers Top 15 Prospects (2012-13)
I’m a little concerned about the overall depth of the Brewers system but the Top 15 list filled out a little bit better than I expected it to. There are a number of pitching prospects that appear capable of developing into solid big league starters, which should be welcomed news in Milwaukee considering how thin the big league staff is at this time.
#1 Tyler Thornburg (P) ...
Brewers' Thornburg leaves game against Nationals
Brewers reliever Tyler Thornburg left Milwaukee's game against the Washington Nationals with what appeared to be a physical issue in the eighth inning Thursday night.
The rookie right-hander had a 3-2 count on Roger Bernadina when manager Ron Roenicke and a team trainer went to the mound. After conferring for about a minute, Thornburg walked off the mound into the dugout and...

The 2012 Minor League Report – Week 12
Recent callup Tyler Thornburg of the Milwaukee Brewers did not last long in the major leagues as he was sent back to the minor leagues after allowing five runs in 5 1/3 innings with four home runs surrendered and two strikeouts against the Toronto Blue Jays last night. He might have stuck around a start or two had he pitched well, but with Shaun Marcum not expected to miss too...
Brewers send Thornburg to Nashville
MILWAUKEE After tossing an impressive five innings in his major league debut, then running out of gas in a tough sixth inning, big-time prospect and Brewers right-hander Tyler Thornburg was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday afternoon.
Thornburg received a no-decision in his only action after skipping Triple-A in a call-up from Double-A Huntsville. He was scheduled to...

Thornburg simply runs out of gas in debut
MILWAUKEE Tyler Thornburg hadn't pitched in ten days and was on his way to play in the Southern League All-Star game before getting the call up to start for the Brewers on Tuesday against Toronto.
So he turned his car around after a five-hour drive to Knoxville, made it to an airport, and made it to Milwaukee in a whirlwind, all the while anticipating his first-ever major league...

Report: Thornburg will get start vs. Jays
After some secrecy from Brewers manager Ron Roenicke on Monday night as to who would take Shaun Marcum's vacated start Tuesday, it appears, according to his high school baseball team's Twitter account, that big-time prospect Tyler Thornburg will take the hill for Milwaukee against the Blue Jays.
"Tyler Thornburg, Riverwood '07, 1st major league start Tues. June...

Mike Olt and Tyler Thornburg: Scouting the Unknown
Mike Olt | 3B, Rangers | Born: 8/27/1988
The Rangers are flush with high ceiling prospects. At every level you’ll find top-round draftees and highly touted Latin ballplayers, all of whom signed for big money. Perhaps the most glaring example of this impressive collection of youthful talent lies with Double-A Frisco, and more specifically, with the left side of the Roughriders’...
