As he looks to the future, Terence Crawford appears to have ruled out an Errol Spence Jr. rematch.

Crawford stopped Spence to become the first undisputed welterweight champion of the four-belt era. He stopped the Truth in the ninth round after dropping him three times to become undisputed in a second weight class. After the fight, Spence indicated his desire to run things back at 154 pounds.

Showtime’s exit from boxing delayed any potential rematch. In addition, several suggestions have emerged for Spence’s loss. It was claimed the weight cut may have depleted him at 147. Although Spence did not admit that, he did state he had vision issues entering into the fight following his recent cataract surgery. That has been enough for Crawford to move on.

Crawford On Spence

“I done heard it all now @ErrolSpenceJr it’s ok tho because all in all I’m glad it’s over and done with. I wish you well ma brotha,” Crawford stated

Outside of that, Teofimo Lopez is looking to face Crawford, as Bob Arum has not ruled it out. Lopez has questioned Crawford’s resume, suggesting that his big-name wins were overshadowed by the fact that his opponents were depleted entering into the fights. He mentioned Kell Brook, Jose Benavidez Jr. and Spence. Lopez and Crawford then fired shots at each other during a social media exchange.

Lopez On Crawford

“I did call out Crawford. I said if it presents itself, we’d fight. At 147. It has to be at 147. When I beat Lomachenko, Crawford didn’t have no problem saying he’d come down and fight me. I’m not here to play games; I want to fight the best.

“The fighters Crawford fought were handicapped. Spence just announced about his eye, Jose Benavidez had a shot leg, and Kell Brook was injured too with his eye. Every fighter Crawford has faced at 147lbs has been injured. I’m healthy. Fight the best fighter at a healthier weight; let’s do it,” Lopez said

“Teofimo Lopez, you better worry about them little guys that are on your backside down there in your weight class. It’s crazy every time I see you, you don’t even look my way, but when you’re in front of a camera, you got so much to say,” Crawford replied

Arum On Crawford Lopez

Although that may be the case, Arum has not dismissed the fight. He is well aware of Crawford having promoted him during the latter’s time at Top Rank. Under Arum’s guidance, Crawford managed to become undisputed at 140. However, he struggled to get the Spence fight, resulting in him departing the company. Crawford would end up beating Spence and making history. So if Arum can put Lopez in with Crawford, he is open to it.

“Well, let him beat Jamaine Ortiz first, and then we’ll see. If that’s what he wants and that can happen, I’m not against it, but once again, one step at a time. You can’t keep looking ahead. February 8th is a month away. Let’s see what happens on February 8th,” Arum stated
