Kyle Kirkwood wins Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix

"For some reason, the wing was damaged, but it wasn't causing much of an issue," Kirkwood told Fox Sports.  "It was definitely not a walk in the park. On restarts, the car just came alive. I was super comfortable after the red flag came out."

Ferrucci - who earned the best finish of his IndyCar career - and Colton Herta completed the podium, with Will Power and Kyffin Simpson rounding out the top-five. Marcus Armstrong, Pato O'Ward, Christian Lundgaard, Josef Newgarden and Alexander Rossi completed the top-10. 

Other notable finishers include Scott Dixon in 11th, Scott McLaughlin in 12th, Robert Shwartzman in 16th, Jacob Abel in 18th and Graham Rahal in 20th. 

Indianapolis 500 winner and points leader Alex Palou crashed late in the race following contact from David Malukas. Kirkwood's win moves him into second in the championship standings, 78 points behind Palou. 

The eighth race of the 2025 NTT IndyCar Series season will take place on June 15 at World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Illinois. The Bommarito Automotive Group 500 will go green shortly after 8 p.m. ET, with coverage on Fox.
