George Kambosos Jr doesn’t want to be known as a boxer who had a lucky upset in over Teofimo Lopez. He wants to be known as one of the top guys in his era in the lightweight division instead of a one hit wonder. Kambosos will be facing Vasiliy Lomachenko for the vacant IBF lightweight title on Saturday at Perth, Australia.
Kambosos believes that a win over pound-for-pound great and former lightweight division king Lomachenko, will elevate his career into the Hall of Fame category.
“This fight cements me in the Hall of Fame, I truly believe it. They can’t deny that,” said Kambosos. “What I have been able to achieve, the fighters I’ve been able to fight, the events I’ve been able to bring to Australia … how can they deny Kambosos’ resume?”

You would never guess that Kambosos is a 7-1 underdog in this fight based off of how he’s talking. ”When I beat Lomachenko, there’ll be no more road for him to go,” said Kambosos at Thursday afternoon’s official news conference in Perth. “This is retirement for him, I truly believe it.”
“The way I’m sparring, the way I’m firing on every engine. The speed that I have … he’s never seen this kind of speed and explosive power. The will, the heart I have, the desire to win this fight. I want this bad. I’ve prepared extremely hard for this fight. I’ve left no stone unturned.”
Both fighters have a common is against Devin Haney. Kambosos lost decisively to Haney twice and Lomachenko lost to Haney once in a controversial decision. Without a doubt Lomachenko is already a legend in the boxing world. Undoubtedly both fighters are on different stages of their careers. But with a win on Saturday Night will go a long way in cementing both fighters legacies furthermore.
