Liam “Beefy” Smith has spoken to Andrew McCart at IFLTV about two promotional offers he’s received. Smith last fought when he lost to Chris Eubank Jr., and in the interview with IFLTV, he discussed his return to the ring and a potentially fascinating all-British clash with Conor Benn.

Liam Smith Talks Future Plans

When asked what was coming up and what the future holds, “Beefy” said: “Am I speaking to people, yes? Have I got a few offers on the table, yes.” He continued: “Have I picked one, no.”

Smith was then asked as a free agent if it’s difficult for him to pick a promoter at this stage of his career: “I’m in a position where it’s got to be like a big fight. It’s not like someone is going to offer me a 12-month contract.” He continued: “Its who’s going to offer me names.” Smith revealed: “Frank and George Warren have offered me names, and Eddie (Hearn) and Frank (Smith) are in the middle of doing the same thing now.”

“I’ll probably just see which ways the best, the best option out of them two.”

Liam Smith vs. Conor Benn

When asked about a possible Conor Benn fight on a 5v5 type card in September at Wembley, Beefy said: “Yeah, that’s probably a good conversation I can have with both if it’s an option.” He continued: “Conor has been mentioned to me. Like I’ve always said, I’ll take the fight in a heartbeat.” He added: “I’d love that fight next.”

Smith then revealed: “It got spoken about when I was in Canada (Callum Smith vs. Artur Beterbiev) – Eddie asked me, would I fight him (Benn). Of course, I’d love to.”

Potential Return Date

When asked about a return and a likely date for his next fight, Smith said: “I’m itching to get back, but first and foremost, I’m itching to get fit. I’m massively overweight. I put a lot of weight on after the Eubank fight.”

He continued: “I was injured. I was injured before it. I thought I’d get through it. I didn’t, and I’ve let it heal and rest up properly.”
