In the latest twist to the tale, John Fury has claimed that Tyson Fury WAS prepared to fight Oleksandr Usyk next.

News broke via Tyson Fury’s social channels on Thursday that the Gypsy King had decided to fight WBC mandatory Dillian Whyte next, rather than pursuing an undisputed bout with Oleksandr Usyk.

What followed were claims from Eddie Hearn that Fury had snubbed the idea of fighting Usyk and instead had his eye on an interim fight. He was not prepared to fight for the undisputed title now.

You could have expected that the Fury clan would have something to say about that, especially considering Tyson’s “anytime, anyplace, anywhere” mantra – and they have.

John Fury has today claimed that Fury WOULD have fought Usyk now, were Anthony Joshua and Hearn to have accepted the £15m step aside money that was on the table for them.

Honestly, we don’t know who to believe anymore, but we ought to just proceed as initially intended and try again for the undisputed bout later in the year, irrespective of who holds the belts by then.
