Watch: Jake Paul’s dad has amusing reaction to news son is fighting Mike Tyson

Jake Paul’s father Gregory grew up a boxing fan.

His favorite fighter was former WBA, WBC, IBF and The Ring heavyweight champion Mike Tyson (50-6-2). Which is what led to the comical reaction Gregory had when his son casually informed him that his next fight would be against Tyson on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Warning: the video below contains colorful language.

Despite being 57 years old and not having fought professionally since 2005, Tyson presents the toughest test of Paul’s four-year professional boxing career. 44 of Iron Mike's 50 career wins have come via knockout and Tyson has a notable power and size advantage over Paul. He regularly fought around 220 pounds while Paul weighs around 200.

In addition to being a multi-time former world champion, Tyson was also a Golden Gloves champion and a National Junior Olympics gold medalist. Conversely, Paul is 10 fights into a pro boxing career that has consisted of gimmicky bouts with retired MMA fighters (Anderson Silva, Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley) and NBA players (Nate Robinson).

Arguably the only respectable opponent Paul has faced is Tommy Fury (10-0), who beat him by split decision in February 2023.

The Paul vs. Tyson fight will be streamed live on Netflix, which has approximately 260 million global subscribers and 80 million across the United States and Canada.
