Jim Nantz will call his last Final Four in 2023

Jim Nantz has become synonymous with March Madness. He's called the NCAA Men's basketball tournament for over 30 years and he's been considered "the voice" of the Final Four for as long as many of us have been watching.

Along with Dick Vitale and Jay Bilas, perhaps no announcer has made the impact on college basketball that Nantz has ever since he joined CBS Sports in 1985.

It's been an elite run, but according to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, that run is going to come to an end after this upcoming March Madness tournament.

The college basketball season hasn't even started yet, but Nantz has told Marchand that he'll be hanging up his microphone once the Final Four nets are cut down and a March Madness champion has been crowned.

“It is time with two young children and an older daughter that I spend more time at home,” Nantz told Marchand “‘Daddy needs to be home.”

It's notable that Nance has chosen the 2023 edition of the Final Four to be his swan song, because it will take place in Houston, Texas. Nantz began his career as a broadcaster at the University of Houston.

According to Marchand, Ian Eagle will be the next lead play-by-play announcer for CBS and Turner Sports as they continue their coverage of March Madness in the post-Nantz era.
