Former Villanova coach Jay Wright to join CBS, Turner Sports as a broadcaster

Legendary Villanova basketball coach Jay Wright is heading back to the Final Four this 2022-23 college basketball season. This time, though, instead of calling the shots for the Wildcats, he'll be calling the games for CBS and Turner Sports.

This is according to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, who is reporting that Wright will be an in-studio analyst for the Final Four, while also calling regular-season games for CBS — presumably as the color commentator.

Wright is as big of a name in college basketball as you'll find outside of Mike Krzyzewski, Tom Izzo and historically...John Wooden.

Wright was Villanova's basketball coach for 21 seasons, a span in which he amassed a 520-197 record with two national championship wins in 2016 and 2018. He retired at the end of last season, giving way to Kyle Neptune, who was an assistant at Villanova from 2013-2021 and is now back as head coach of the Wildcats after a one-season stint as head coach for Fordham.

Wright will bring a ton of experience to the table by calling the Final Four. His Villanova teams, of course, played in the Final Four in 2016 and 2016, but Wright's Wildcats were also Final Four contenders in 2009 and last season as well.

The 2022 Wildcats lost to the eventual tournament champion, Kansas, in the Final Four.
