Kentucky adds Overtime Elite star to already stacked recruiting class

Kentucky basketball head coach John Calipari is doing what he does best and recruiting some of the best high school players in the country to Lexington.

The latest to join Kentucky's 2023-24 class is four-star small forward Jordan Burks from Decatur, Alabama. Burks played at Overtime Elite this past season and actually led the league in scoring with 27.1 points per game.

He scored 20 or more points in every game and stood out amongst the likes of Ausar Thompson and Amen Thompson, who will likely be top picks in the upcoming 2023 NBA Draft.

The NBA could eventually come calling for Burks, but for the time being, playing at Kentucky will be a dream come true.

“I’ve always been big on Kentucky because of the atmosphere and the culture,” Burks told 247Sports. “I’ve been watching since I was a kid and seeing all of the players develop and progress into pros and compete for titles every year made this a place I wanted to play at.

“I wanted to play with the top players in the country at the top basketball school in the country and develop my game under Coach Calipari, while working every day to win the national championship. I want to help this team win a national championship and create a bond with my teammates on and off the court. I want to prepare myself to be in the best shape and be the most productive I can be for this team.”

An already stacked Kentucky recruiting class just got better with the addition of Burks.

Already ranked No. 1 on the college basketball recruiting trail, Calipari's 2023 class features four five-star recruits, one four-star, and Burks, a consensus three-star recruit.

Kentucky's top commitment is five-star small forward Justin Edwards, ranked as the consensus No. 3 recruit in the nation.
