John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats are the talk of the college basketball world – for the wrong reasons. Expected by many to take care of business in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies, the Lexington-based program floundered and embarrassed itself on the national stage instead Thursday night. The No. 3 Wildcats were forced to pack up their bags and head home after losing to the Horizon League squad, 80-76.

The loss to Oakland has fans roasting the Wildcats left and right online.

Kentucky Wildcats Gets Absolutely Trolled After Shocking Loss To Oakland

As one of college basketball’s blue bloods, Kentucky Wildcats entered the Oakland game with plenty of fans rooting for the underdog Grizzlies. Needless to say, they all got what they wanted.

The loss to the Golden Grizzlies also marked the third year in a row that the Kentucky Wildcats made it to the Big Dance but failed to get past the second round. In 2022, they reached the second round where they got ousted by the Kansas State Wildcats. A year before that, the Wildcats were notably eliminated in the first round by the St. Peter’s Peacocks.

The Kentucky Wildcats Had No Answer To Oakland’s Jack Gohlke

The Grizzlies stunned Kentucky on the strength of a super senior in the form of 24-year-old graduate transfer Jack Gohlke, who went off for 32 points on an incredible 10/20 shooting from the 3-point area. He took all his field goal attempts from deep and gave Oakland the momentum and confidence it needed to slay down a giant.  Got to love March Madness.
