No. 12 Texas at No. 9 Oklahoma men's basketball game postponed due to winter weather

The No. 12-ranked Texas Longhorns and No. 9-ranked Oklahoma Sooners just aren't meant to play each other this week.

Both Texas and Oklahoma confirmed that this week's men's basketball game between the two programs is indefinitely postponed due to inclement winter weather that has impacted much of the country and caused reschedulings of professional and collegiate contests throughout the week.

As noted by the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), this matchup was originally set for Tuesday but was moved to Wednesday and, later, Thursday because of the winter storm that left tens of thousands of residents without power as temperatures dipped to the single-digits and, in some cases, even lower.

The Longhorns improved to 13-5 overall and 7-4 in the conference with a 70-55 win over the TCU Horned Frogs last Saturday. Texas will hope to host the No. 13-ranked West Virginia Mountaineers this Saturday.

Oklahoma, meanwhile, remains at 13-5 overall and 8-4 in conference play coming off this past Saturday's double-overtime win over West Virginia. The Sooners will next play at the Iowa State Cyclones this Saturday.

Oklahoma is scheduled to face the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Feb. 27 and March 1, but the Big 12 created an open week on the calendar past March 1 to account for remaining unplayed games. The conference tournament will run March 10-13.
