Lions HC Dan Campbell makes bold assessment of talented WR

If Lions HC Dan Campbell's assessment of WR is accurate it could mean trouble for opponents

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams was one of four Lions players suspended for sports betting last April.

Williams was initially docked six games, but his punishment was later lifted after just four contests when the NFL adjusted its gambling policy.
The former 12th overall pick had a rough training camp last summer and head coach Dan Campbell was, at times, critical of Williams. On Thursday – over a year removed from the initial news of his suspension – Campbell had nothing but praise for the 23-year-old.

Williams missed 11 games during his 2022 rookie season as he recovered from an ACL tear that he suffered during that year's College Football Playoff National Championship game. Williams finished the campaign with just one reception (a 41-yard touchdown catch) on nine targets across six contests while adding one rushing attempt for 40 yards.

Once the former Alabama product made it back onto the field in 2023, he contributed to Detroit's loaded offense with 24 receptions for 354 yards and two touchdowns on 42 targets across 12 regular-season games. Williams finished the winter strong, adding six catches for 79 yards and one score in three playoff games as the Lions made a surprising run to the NFC Championship game.

Now, with the same core of offensive weapons returning in the fall, a healthy and productive Williams could make Detroit that much more dangerous.
