Southern California hoops recruit Alijah Arenas has been released from the hospital, six days after a fiery car crash.

"We are grateful to share that (he) ... is now resting comfortably under close watch," the family said in a statement released Wednesday.

"While his journey to full recovery is just beginning, his spirit remains strong, and he is surrounded by love and support."

Arenas, a five-star guard in the Trojans' 2025 recruiting class, is the son of three-time NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas.

Initially placed into a medically induced coma due to smoke inhalation, the younger Arenas did not suffer any major injuries in the April 24 crash, his father confirmed on a podcast earlier this week.

He was driving a Tesla Cybertruck when it crashed into a fire hydrant and a tree and burst into flames in Reseda, Calif., according to multiple reports. The Los Angeles Times reported that drugs or alcohol were not suspected to be a factor in the accident.

"The family continues to ask for privacy during this time as they focus on Alijah's healing and well-being," the family statement said. "We thank everyone for the continued prayers, encouragement, and outpouring support."

The 6-foot-6 Arenas reportedly turned down offers from Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky and Louisville before committing to the Trojans. The 247Sports composite lists him as the No. 1 shooting guard and No. 7 overall player in the 2025 class.

He recently competed in the McDonald's All-American Game and played basketball at Chatsworth High School in Los Angeles.
