UConn forward Alex Karaban was ruled out for Saturday's game against St. John's in New York due to an ankle injury.

Karaban, whose right foot was in a boot on Saturday, tweaked his ankle during the first half of the top-ranked Huskies' 74-65 victory over Providence on Wednesday. He returned to the court later in the game and finished with 12 points and four rebounds in 34 minutes.

Hassan Diarra started in Karaban's absence for the Huskies (19-2, 9-1 Big East) against the Red Storm (13-8, 5-5).

Karaban is averaging 14.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 21 starts this season for UConn, which has won nine in a row. That streak began with a 69-65 victory over St. John's on Dec. 23 in Hartford, Conn.
