When it comes to the NFL’s true opponents, one of the all-time favorites remains Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders . What started out as a rivalry became a sweet friendship when Sanders joined the San Francisco 49ers.

Remembering the old days of rivalry, Rice revealed whom he considered the toughest defensive back during his time in the NFL. It was when Keyshawn Johnson asked the same on All Facts No Brakes with Keyshawn Johnson.

Deion Sanders. The battles that we had…you know back in the day, even when he was with the Atlanta and also with Dallas. It was a mono-a-mono and I primed and I prepared myself for that. All the reps during the week, I wanted to take those reps. I wanted to be able to have a game plan going in. And if you are gonna face the best, you better have a game plan. Jerry Rice said

The Hall of Fame wide receiver revealed, that whenever he had a match against Sanders, it was always him, who was ready to attack Sanders having a proper game plan. Whether it was route running, double moves or run play, Rice always tried to “wear” out the Colorado head coach.

Jerry Rice applauded Deion Sanders’ impact on college football

While talking about his old-time rival and friend, Sanders, the NFL’s all-time receiving leader also talked about the impact of Sanders on college football, at Jackson State. He applauded the college head coach saying:

I think Deion did a fantastic job at Jackson State. He brought a lot of recognition. He changed the culture there. Jerry Rice hailed Deoin Sanders

The Hall of Famer believes it is because of Sanders only, that a historically black college gained a newfound recognition and cultural difference. Sanders not only revived the college football culture but also caught national attention.

Although he parted ways from Jackson State, he found a new home at the University of Colorado. There as well, Sanders made sure to leave his mark through his distinctive strategic approach
