Alabama WR DeVonta Smith laughs off people who question his size

Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith is expected to be a top-10 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and there's really only one concern surrounding the Heisman Trophy winner: his size.

Smith says he weighs 170 pounds and is 6-foot-1. However, he isn't at all concerned with his smaller frame, telling Bleacher Report's Master Tesfatsion that he really doesn't care.

"In high school I used to feel some type of way when people would tell me that [I was small]," Smith said. "But now, I really don't care. If somebody says that, I'm just gonna look at them and laugh. I mean, it is what it is. At the end of the day, I know that when I get on the field and line up, I'll do what I've gotta do."

Smith's size didn't affect his collegiate performance at all. Last season, the 22-year-old caught 117 passes for 1,856 yards and 23 touchdowns. He also ran in a touchdown and returned a kick for a score in 2020.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban even dismissed the concerns surrounding Smith's size, saying, "His performance speaks for itself."

In his latest NFL mock draft, ESPN analyst Mel Kiper has the Carolina Panthers selecting Smith with the eighth overall pick.
