Attorney representing suspended Michigan St. player alleges Michigan player started brawl

Attorney David D. Diamond sent a notice to various media outlets on Tuesday, alleging that a Michigan football player started the viral locker room tunnel brawl between the Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans in late October.

"The media has taken the bait from a coach and master victim and his howls at the moon," part of Diamond's notice read. "The repeated 'hail to the victims' song and dance does not contribute to the fact-finding mission. Where were the screams from Ann Arbor to criminally charge (men's basketball coach Juwan Howard) with assault or (former Michigan football player Devin Bush Jr.) with felony vandalism. The silence was palpitating. The hypocrisy is painful."

Last week, Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh spoke out on the brawl, which occurred following his team's 29-7 victory over the Spartans on Oct. 29 at Michigan Stadium. Harbaugh said that two of his players were "assaulted after the contest" and "an apology will not get the job done."

The 58-year-old also said that he expects criminal charges to be filed in the aftermath of the incident.

According to a report from The Athletic, the Michigan players Harbaugh said were assaulted were defensive backs Ja'Den McBurrows and Gemon Green. On Oct. 30, the Michigan State athletics department announced that four players — redshirt sophomore linebacker Itayvion "Tank" Brown, redshirt sophomore cornerback Khary Crump, junior safety Angelo Grose and freshman defensive end Zion Young — had been suspended.
