More 2024 NFL Draft Profiles

Notre Dame football has been one of the most prominent football programs in sports history. From the 11 national championships and countless NFL prospects, Notre Dame is a blue blood in college football. Another prospect going under the radar is Notre Dame’s Cam Hart. Hart wants to join an impressive lineage of Irish secondary players who have succeeded at the pro level.

Hart was a three-star broad receiver prospect out of Olney, Maryland, and committed to Notre Dame. Hart would be a key reserve for the first two years and became a full-time starter his junior season. In that season, he was awarded Phil Steele Second-Team All-Independent. Throughout the rest of his time at Notre Dame, Hart became a staple in the Irish secondary. Will his success make Hart a first-round pick? Let’s dig into the film.

2024 NFL Draft: Cam Hart Scouting Report

Hart’s Strengths

  • Big, tall, and long corner at 6’3, 202 pounds, and 33-inch arms. He is in the 80+ percentile in all three. Can be a defensive weapon vs bigger wide receivers.
  • Impressive athletic ability for his size in the 90 percentile and the broad jump. He posted a 4.50 40-yard dash.
  • Has good footwork and backpedal with a low pad level. Quickly plant foot, then attack the wideout and ball in short or intermediate routes.
  • Shows off his length and size at the line of scrimmage in press coverage. Can also match and mirror wideouts in coverage.
  • Teams that play a lot of zone teams and mix coverages will love him.
  • Player his best game of the season vs Marvin Harrison Jr.
  • Great leader and student of the game. Coach on the field football intelligence.
  • Does a good job being aggressive but not too aggressive to draw flags.

Hart’s Weakness

  • Below-average testing numbers in the agility drills highlight his lack of ability to transition from side to side. They cannot cover certain wideouts, vast receivers with great agility and start-stop ability
  • Physicality does not match his size in the quick game, and he is attacking the run.
  • Once beaten, he does not have the makeup speed to hang with top-tier WRS, especially in man coverage. Once beaten in coverage, he usually stays beaten.
  • Despite his physical gifts, he has subpar ball production.
  • Two separate shoulder injuries and surgeries.

Projection: Late Second to Early Third Round Pick

NFL Comparison: Julius Brents

Best Fits: Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, Indianapolis Colts, and the Buffalo Bills.

Bottom Line

Cam Hart is a big, athletic corner with great arm length and press technique that will garner attention in the mid-rounds. Due to his lack of agility, he cannot cover smaller, quicker receivers. Also, covering top-tier explosive wide receivers will not end well due to a lack of recovery speed. However, Hart has impressive qualities as well that specific teams will love. Match and mirror a wideout, impressive press technician who can plant his foot and break on the ball. Teams who play zone or like to mix their coverages will draft Cam Hart and might bring out his potential. Main Image: Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports
