The Clemson Tigers head into 2024 looking to bounce back after a rough season. After being a perennial contender, the Tigers have regressed to the middle of the ACC. They will have to try and improve without one of the best offensive weapons from this season. Star running back Will Shipley announced today that he is declaring for the NFL Draft.

Clemson Tigers RB Will Shipley Declares For The NFL Draft

Shipley was a huge part of the Clemson offense this season. “I have decided to enter my name into the 2024 NFL draft,” he wrote. “I am grateful for the last three years and am excited to see what the future holds! Although I am taking the next step of my journey, I will always be a Clemson Tiger!” The fan-favorite player rushed for 827 yards and five touchdowns and also had 31 receptions for 244 yards and two touchdowns. It wasn’t as good as his 2022 season but he will still be missed.

Draft Projection

According to NFL Draft Buzz, Shipley is a projected third-round pick. His skills in the passing game are what make him a great prospect for an NFL team. For a team that does a lot of screen passes and wheel routes, he would be a perfect fit. He isn’t a scrub in the running game either. Shipley has quick feet and good lateral ability which allows him to find the hole and hit it hard. He is going to get drafted but could improve his stock with a strong NFL Draft Combine.

The Clemson Tigers will miss Will Shipley but it makes sense that he is taking his talents to the NFL. The hope is that he can find the perfect fit and be able to have a successful NFL career.
