DC Mike Macdonald leaving Michigan to rejoin Ravens staff?
Michigan Wolverines defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald is expected to leave the school and return to the NFL to be the Baltimore Ravens' new DC, multiple sources reported on Wednesday.
On3 Sports reported Macdonald has had discussions with Ravens head coach John Harbaugh about filling the position. Macdonald was Baltimore's linebackers coach for three seasons before leaving after the 2020 campaign to work with John's younger brother, Jim, at Michigan.
The move also looks likely given Macdonald is not currently taking part in Michigan's recruiting process.
Baltimore recently fired defensive coordinator Wink Martindale in a surprise move this month, who served as DC since 2018.
Should Macdonald return to the NFL, it will surely add more intrigue to the situation surrounding the Harbaugh also currently at Michigan. There has been no shortage of rumors that Jim could return to coach professional football and has emerged as a likely candidate for multiple teams in need of a new head coach.
Harbaugh has reportedly not taken any interviews with NFL teams yet. He is also in contact with Michigan about a potential new contract, although those discussions are reportedly ongoing.
