Report: Ravens nearing contract extension with HC John Harbaugh

More than 25% of the NFL's teams don't have a head coach as of Tuesday afternoon, but the Baltimore Ravens aren't one of them. According to reports, they're looking to keep it that way for the foreseeable future, as John Harbaugh just finished his 14th season at the helm.

ESPN staff writer Jamison Hensley wrote Tuesday that according to a source, the organization is "nearing a contract extension" with the 59-year-old coach.

"Team officials are in talks with Harbaugh's agent, and an extension should get completed in a few weeks, the source said," Hensley wrote.

Harbaugh is entering the final year of his four-year deal that he signed in January 2019. Baltimore has made the playoffs nine times during Harbaugh's run, including the first five seasons from 2008 to 2012.

The Ravens captured their second Super Bowl title in 2012, when they defeated the San Francisco 49ers. Baltimore then made the postseason only once from 2013 to 2017, before three consecutive berths from 2018 to 2020.

The team failed to reach the postseason in 2021 after finishing 8-9.

Harbaugh has gone 137-88 in the regular season during his NFL head-coaching career and has posted an 11-8 record in the playoffs. In 2019, the Perrysburg, Ohio, native became the first Ravens coach to win the Associated Press NFL Coach of the Year award.
