Despite Deion Sanders‘ talk of his sons staying at Colorado with him instead of entering the NFL Draft, the league’s team scouts are still frequently prowling the Boulder practice fields for the Buffs’ talent like potential first-rounder Travis Hunter. This week, the Buffaloes had the Atlanta Falcons on campus with Southwest area scout Rich Sanders.
The scout popped up in one of Deion Sanders Jr.’s behind-the-scenes videos where he joked with Coach Prime about his sons Shilo and Shedeur. In the clip, the coach asks Rich Sanders to tell the camera what he told him privately before the cameras began rolling.

“He told me, ‘We ain’t coming back unless we bring the Sanders boys to the A, both of ’em,'” the scout said.
Buffs quarterback Shedeur Sanders has looked nothing short of incredible in the first half of the 2023 season, carving up secondaries with ease in guiding the Buffaloes to a 4-2 record. He’s already earned himself first-round buzz in the draft from ESPN’s Mel Kiper and Sanders is expected to be one of the top quarterbacks selected, whenever he does decide to leave Boulder.

Sanders pointed out that in the current landscape of college football, with all the NIL opportunities, his son can earn a significant amount of money. His son, Shedeur, also wants to the top pick selected, rather than taking a backseat to the projected No. 1 overall pick, Caleb Williams.
“It’s about a whole lot of other things, teams, position, round projection, all of that plays a role. Because now with NIL and who they are, shoot, you can make just as much money here (college) as you can there (NFL) unless you’re one of the first five picks,” Sanders said.
Sanders: Travis Hunter ‘looks good’ for Saturday
Saturday will mark four weeks since Colorado two-way sensation Travis Hunter suffered an injury against Colorado State that has kept him on the sidelines. Deion Sanders previously said he wouldn’t rush Hunter back, but added he’d like to see him wait until after the bye week to return.
It turns out, that won’t be the case. Sanders confirmed Hunter is “most likely going to play” on Saturday when Colorado takes on Stanford.
Sanders shared the news on the coaches show on Wednesday. Hunter has practiced this week and Sanders pointed out how good he looked considering he hasn’t played since Sept. 16. While Hunter’s return isn’t entirely official — Thursday’s practice will be critical — Sanders sounded optimistic.
“Travis looks good,” Sanders said. “Shoot, Travis is Travis, man. God don’t make too many of those. He’s most likely going to play. We’ve got to see how he practices tomorrow. Today was a day off for him. You can’t just work him, work him, work him. He had to take it easy today — he practiced both ways yesterday because that’s who he is. He has the protection on his ribs.
“And we’ve got to see how he goes through practice tomorrow. I promise you, he’ll be in my office before I get there tomorrow waiting on me, telling me how much he wants to play.”
