We are 42 days from Alabama football, so it is time to recognize an incredible running back.

Eddie Lacy, a former four-star, came into the Crimson Tide’s 2009 class from Louisiana. He redshirted his freshman season, watching Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson push the Tide to its first BCS National Championship of the Nick Saban era.

Lacy started playing in 2010, averaging 7.3 yards per carry. As the third-string back, he collected 406 yards rushing and six touchdowns on 56 carries in 11 games. He helped the Tide to a 49-7 victory in the Capitol One Bowl over Michigan State.

After helping Alabama to another national championship in 2011, Lacy enjoyed his best season in 2012. He perfected his spin move and assisted a powerful offensive line to propel the Tide to another championship. He led the team in rushing with 1,322 yards and 17 touchdowns on 204 carries. Lacy dominated Notre Dame in the 2013 BCS National Championship Game with 140 rushing yards and a touchdown. He earned Most Valuable Offensive Player in Alabama’s 42-14 beatdown of the Fighting Irish.

Lacy made first-team All-SEC in 2012 and played five seasons in the National Football League.

He is ninth all-time in school history for career rushing touchdowns (30).
