Michigan football is in the midst of a commitment drought. But according to some new expert projections, that could change soon.

Timelines are always hard to figure out in recruiting. When recruits make their decisions is important. That will likely tell the tale with a pair of Michigan football targets in the 2025 class, but there are a couple who are trending toward committing to the Wolverines.

One is Ohio cornerback Dawayne Galloway. Out of Columbus, Ohio, Galloway is 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, and ranked 96th overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Galloway is the fifth-best recruit in the state of Ohio as well as the No. 11 cornerback.

Interestingly, Ohio State hasn’t offered. The Buckeyes have already landed some highly-ranked cornerbacks for the 2025 class, so they have ignored Galloway just like they did Rod Moore, which came back to bite them.

Allen Trieu, a recruiting expert for 247 Sports, put in a crystal ball projection for Galloway to wind up with Michigan football. The analyst said his visit later this month would be key. It will be a chance for Lamar Morgan, the new secondary coach to get to know him.

More good news for Michigan football recruiting

It would be nice to start building some momentum — with commitments — on the recruiting trail. On that note, Galloway wasn’t the only Michigan football recruit to receive an expert projection on Tuesday.

Chad Simmons of On3.com has the Wolverines pegged as the favorite for four-star wideout Taz Williams. Josh Henschke of Rivals is also projecting Avery Gach, a four-star offensive lineman, and a top in-state target to commit to Michigan football as well in the 2025 class.

Things have started a little slow for Michigan in the 2025 class. But with a new head coach, that’s to be expected. Now though, the Wolverines are gaining momentum at just the right time.
