Elon Univeristy football player dies after fall

Elon University football player Demitri Allison has died after falling off of a 10-story dormitory at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Smith Jackson, vice president for student life at Elon, said in a statement that Allison "had left the Elon campus yesterday and his teammates, friends and family asked police to look for him because they were concerned for his well-being and emotional state."

Elon Athletics Director Dave Blank added: "Demitri was a talented young man with a bright future who was loved by his teammates. We mourn his loss deeply and we pray for his family and loved ones."

Allison, 21, played wide receiver for Elon and became a major part of the team's offense last season, making 55 catches for 525 yards as a sophomore.
