ESPN analysts not sold on Trevor Lawrence as best QB in NFL Draft ?

The Jacksonville Jaguars are selecting Clemson Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence first overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. This isn't a prediction as much as it is a lock, per ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr., Walter Football, four CBS Sports analysts, NFL Media's Daniel Jeremiah, and essentially every other respected observer.

"Essentially" is the key word in that last sentence, as ESPN's Matt Miller and Ryan Clark explained during a Friday appearance on "Get Up" that they don't view Lawrence as a "can't miss" prospect.

To say Miller and Clark are in the minority as of Feb. 19 would be an understatement. Back on Feb. 7, Kiper wrote Lawrence "is one of the best quarterback prospects I've studied over the past decade, and he has all the makings of a superstar, from arm talent to size to the ability to process at the position."

In a mock draft updated this past Tuesday, Walter Football said that Lawrence "has it all, and that includes size (6-6, 215), a big arm, accuracy and mobility." Jeremiah believes the Jaguars drafting Lawrence is a "no-brainer decision."

The weeks between the conclusion of Super Bowl post-game breakdowns and the start of March Madness are usually the dullest in American sports, during which some television and radio personalities struggle to find legitimate and interesting talking points barring the development of a major story. For what it's worth, though, this isn't the first time Miller and Clark have questioned Lawrence's status atop mock drafts and big boards.
