The Alabama Crimson Tide have already lost one notable player from their College Football Playoff team, but it wasn’t to the NFL Draft.

Bama wide receiver Isaiah Bond has decided to transfer to the Texas Longhorns. Bond shared a photo on his X account Sunday to reveal the move.

He captioned the photo of him and Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian by writing, “official.” He added the Hook ’em Horns hand symbol as well.

Texas and Alabama ordinarily wouldn’t be regarded as rivals, but that’s changing.

Texas is joining the SEC beginning in 2024 as part of the conference’s expansion to 16 teams. The Longhorns and Tide are not scheduled to face each other next season, but both teams made the CFP semifinals and are regarded as national championship contenders. So Bond is leaving one college football powerhouse for another.

Bond had a team-leading 48 receptions for the Crimson Tide in the 2023 season. He finished with 668 yards and four touchdowns, including the winning catch to beat Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

Now Bond, who has two years of eligibility left, will be joining Texas.
