In 2024, former Michigan football quarterback Cade McNamara is no longer a Wolverine — he is with the Iowa Hawkeyes and is heading into his sixth season of college football in the Big Ten. Still, he was Michigan’s first Big Ten Championship Game-winning QB, and recently, he inked himself a new NIL deal.

Former Michigan football quarterback inks new NIL deal

Michigan football is about to have a quarterback battle for the first time since JJ McCarthy beat Cade McNamara for the starting role back in 2022. On the other hand, Iowa is retaining its bona fide QB1 heading into the 2024 season after McNamara went down with a knee injury against Michigan State in mid-2023.

This week, the former Michigan football quarterback announced a new NIL deal featuring Dale Howard Auto Center (Iowa Falls, IA) and an Iowa-based non-profit known as the “Iowa Swarm.” The video announcement is below.

During his lone season as the Wolverines’ QB1, Cade McNamara had a solid performance, leading the Maize and Blue to a 12-2 finish with a victory over Ohio State, the program’s first Big Ten title since 2004, and an appearance in the College Football Playoff. Throughout that special 2021 season, McNamara threw for nearly 2,600 yards with 15 passing touchdowns and six interceptions, helping put Michigan football back on the map nationally, which eventually led to a trio of conference titles and a National Championship.

At Iowa, McNamara has only seen action in a few games; however, the ex-Wolverine still managed to throw for 505 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions throughout five games before getting injured against the Spartans in Iowa’s 26-16 victory last fall.
