Yesterday, it was reported that — due to an injury suffered against Michigan State last weekend — former Michigan football quarterback Cade McNamara is likely out for the remainder of the 2023 season. Today, more reports surfaced, stating that McNamara intends to return to Big Ten play with his Iowa Hawkeyes during the 2024 season.

Former Michigan football quarterback Cade McNamara will return to Iowa in 2024

Through the first five games of his career with the Iowa Hawkeyes, former Michigan football captain and Big Ten Champion Cade McNamara was completing 51% of his passes for over 500 yards, four passing touchdowns, and three interceptions. While it wasn’t the most impressive start for the ex-Wolverine, McNamara had his Hawkeyes at 3-1 heading into last weekend’s Michigan State game, a matchup that Iowa won by ten points, even without McNamara.

That said, McNamara is likely to miss the remainder of the 2023 season due to injury — an unfortunate occurrence for the former Michigan football quarterback, to say the least. That said, today, new reports surfaced, which state that Cade McNamara intends on playing yet another Big Ten season in Iowa City next fall, according to Iowa Swarm Collective CEO Brad Heinrichs.

There remains a lot of football to be played between now and the 2024 season, and while Michigan football fans won’t be getting a JJ McCarthy vs. Cade McNamara matchup for the Big Ten title this fall, there is still a chance that it will happen next year.
