The Ohio State football program decided to make a change when Kyle McCord was told that it would be better for him if he transferred programs. The Buckeyes decided to bring in Will Howard as his replacement. McCord decided to move on to Syracuse. He is presumably going to be their starting quarterback.

McCord and the Orange played their annual Spring Game on Saturday. It was the first time that McCord was able to throw to his new receivers in front of fans. It was also the first time that he had a chance to show the public that he is still a good quarterback. McCord wants everyone to know that Ohio State made a mistake.

Former Ohio State football player Kyle McCord looks good in Spring Game

While he wasn’t perfect in the Spring Game, McCord still had a few good throws. He had a nice touchdown pass along the sideline that was placed perfectly.

I don’t think McCord is a bad player. In fact, I think he can be a very good quarterback for the Orange. His floor was never the question. He just didn’t have the ceiling that the Buckeyes needed in order to win at the highest level. He couldn’t put the team on his back and make the high-level plays that they needed in order to go undefeated.

That’s not something he’s going to be asked to do with Syracuse. They don’t have national championship aspirations. They are just trying to be a good team in the ACC. McCord won’t have the same level of pressure on him as he did in Columbus. I think that will be good for him.

I expect McCord to be very solid this year.
