Georgia safety Richard LeCounte out of hospital after dirt bike accident

Georgia Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart confirmed to reporters that senior safety Richard LeCounte was released from the hospital and returned to the team's training room on Tuesday following an accident on Saturday night.

As Adam Rittenberg explained for ESPN, LeCounte was riding a dirt bike when it struck a vehicle on Saturday. LeCounte spent time in intensive care and, per ESPN's Mark Schlabach, is likely to miss at least a few weeks because of a shoulder injury as well as cuts and bruises.

LeCounte currently leads Georgia in interceptions with three and is tied for the team lead in passes defended with four. He tallied a career-best four interceptions last season and grabbed two of those picks in the Sugar Bowl win over the Baylor Bears.

As of Oct. 17, Charlie Campbell of Walter Football had LeCounte listed as the fifth-best prospect at the position for next year's NFL Draft class and projected he could be selected in the second or third round.

"LeCounte has played well for Georgia this year, producing some splash plays for the tough Bulldogs defense," Campbell wrote at the time. "Team sources told me that LeCounte stood out to them at times for being a gifted player with upside."

In total, LeCounte has recorded 176 tackles, eight interceptions and four forced fumbles during his tenure at Georgia.
