Tennessee had yet another player hit the transfer portal. This time, it's offensive lineman Gerald Mincey. Mincey is an offensive tackle from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He measures in at around 6-6 and 337 pounds, according to utsports.com. He was a redshirt junior this past year. He played in all 13 games, including the bowl game, in which he started in 7 of those matchups.

Despite originally announcing he would return to Tennessee, he has decided he will finish his college career elsewhere. He was a projected starter at the tackle position for the 2024 Volunteers team and will now move on from Tennessee. He has been with Tennessee the past two seasons after transferring in from the Florida Gators, in which he saw action in double-digit games for the Gators in 2021. He was a former 2020 recruit who was listed as a three-star entering college, and he was the 689th overall prospect according to the On3 industry rankings. He was recruited heavily by schools across the country before committing to Florida and later transferring to the Tennessee Volunteers.

Although Mincey found himself in a bit of legal trouble after a simple possession charge, the talented tackle still played for coach Heupel and his offensive squad. Following his charge, he was limited as a form of punishment, but it never completely sidelined him from playing.

If Mincey were to go through and transfer away from the Volunteers, they would have to look for a replacement. It is uncertain who would get time at the tackle position; however, the Volunteers do have incoming freshman Bennett Warren, who might mix some things up in practice. Warren is a 6'8 (325 pound) prospect from Sugar Land, Texas. Tennessee fans will get an early look at Warren as he will participate in the All-American Bowl on January 6th.
